As an all remote company, it’s important for us to gather once a year and I had the privilege of working with our People Operations department year after year on the branding, merch, website, and signage.
Since the audience for these events are employees, who are well aware of the brand, the design team has the freedom to stretch their creative muscles and design a bit outside of the style guide.

“We’re heading to Park City Utah, host of the 2002 and 2034 Winter Olympics. We would love to incorporate Olympic history into our programming and branding”
Mediavine went through a rebrand around this time and we wanted to avoid straying too far from the brand guidelines with the logo itself.

“We’re heading to The Lost Pines Resort for some outdoor fun. Our theme is “Mediavine and the Great Outdoors” incorporate the outdoors, but we don’t want the event to seem like a summer camp since we’ve already done that theme.”
The team preferred option 2 since all the illustrations were more easily recognizable at first glance, but they wanted to see other options for the logo itself, de-centering the longhorn.
I created a variety of simple illustrations to be used in the logo, but in an effort to reduce cognitive load in the logo, we ended up simplifying the logo. Another designer on the team, Marissa Carrol, was able to use the illustrations style I set up to pitch a simpler logo that ultimately was exactly what the team was looking for.

“Let’s do it big in Nashville, the city of music! We want bright lights, a flashy red carpet moment, do whatever you have to do to make it GLAM.”
The stakeholders loved the horizontal Mediavine Live logo mockup that Charlotte Cheshire, fellow Marketing Graphic Designer, came up with. I took her logo mockup and took it to its final form, making sure to add the date and location as well as a pop of color so it’s consistent with previous year’s event logos.

Every year, our team is tasked with event branding for an annual publisher retreat. These events are described as a combination of classy networking events and a rewarding experience for attendees. The goal of these events is to build stronger relationships with our clients with hopes to retain them.

In collaboration with the sales team, we plan an annual Summit for leaders on the buy side of ad tech. We aim to build strong relationships with these clients to thank them for spending money in our network.
